Cool Change Excursions

 We have always been explorers. From hiking untamed wildernesses, to camping along alpine lakes and taking countless detours on roads and trails that just needed to be followed. Always wondering what is behind that next ridge or in that secluded bay, adventure calls to us. As we explored Alaska and all the beauty the mainland has to offer, we couldn't help but be drawn to the greatest wilderness of all, the Northern Pacific Ocean and the Gulf of Alaska. After a few excursions on rented boats and charters we realized we could never go the extra mile (nautical mile in this case) to see, up close, what most explorers only dream of. The small cove where the black bear feeds on salmon, the Steller sea lions basking in the sun, eagles and osprey fighting mid-air for a meal, Humpback whales bubble-net feeding and glaciers that run from the tops of mountains to the oceans edge. All of the sights that make a visit to Alaska life changing. So we did what explorers from Christopher Columbus to Jacques Cousteau have done... we got a boat. 

Christened the "HomeFree", she has provided us with more adventures and possibilities than we could ever have imagined. She is the perfect vessel for our excursions. Comfortable and warm for overnight anchoring in secluded bays and an "all business" aft deck for fishing, sightseeing or launching our tender for an onshore adventure.  It quickly became apparent that this was the "Alaskan Experience" we had been searching for. No crowded charter boats and no expensive boat rentals that are under powered, under equipped and geographically limited.  As our family and friends joined us for our excursions, they convinced us that we needed to share this with more people who were seeking adventure in Alaska on their own terms. Thus, Cool Change Excursions was born. We did not want a another business to run so we decided to offer a very limited number of dates to those who want an Alaskan experience free of hype, hassel and crowds of strangers.

Our mission is to give "you" the adventure "we" were seeking when we first came to Alaska over twelve years ago. We want to be your personal guides and the HomeFree your personal vessel to unlock Alaska in a way you never dreamed possible.
